"No Woman No Cry," is a deeply personal reminiscence of Bob's impoverished life in Trench Town. The songwriting credit was given to V. Ford, more commonly known among his brethren as Tartar. Had it not been for Tartar's kitchen, Bob would literally have starved on occasion. And there really was a "Georgie" who would keep the fire light as the boys played until the early hours of the morning.
"No Woman No Cry" was originally recorded in the studio for the Bob Marley and the Wailers 1974 release, "Natty Dread."
No woman, no cry (Repeat 4 times)
'Cause I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
Oba, ob-serving the hypocrites
As they would mingle with the good people we meet
Good friends we have had, oh good friends we've lost along the way
In this bright future you can't forget your past
So dry your tears I say
No woman, no cry
No woman, no cry
Little darlin' don't shed no tears
No woman, no cry
Said, said, said I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
And then Georgie would make the fire light
Log wood burnin' through the night
Then we would cook corn meal porridge
Of which I'll share with you
My feet is my only carriage
So I've got to push on through
But while I'm gone...
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
So, no woman, no cry
No, no woman, no woman, no cry
Oh, little darling, don't shed no tears
No woman, no cry
No woman, no woman, no woman, no cry
No woman, no cry
Oh, my little darlin' please don't shed no tears
No woman, no cry, yeah

Hi there :)
Thanks for popping by! Lovely to meet you...
I love that track too..
Bob is a true legend. I think he is one of the very few artists who you can say most people admire and love. A genuine and true person.
Thanks for reminding me :)

Hey sweet Rasta!
I hope you are not blue, cause I have been a little blue too.
I am just glad it is not showing on my skin like that man.
If I were there, I would give you a hug and a bunch of laughs. My friends tell me I tell good stories and always make them laugh.
Just look for the sun to come shining through those clouds and beat warm against your face.
